Half square triangle challenge quilts to be on display at February meeting

Half square triangle quiltsOur Half Square Triangle (HST) Challenge is concluding at the February 20th meeting. Members accepting this challenge were asked to create a quilt using any design, pattern or layout they choose just as long as HST’s are the main focus of their quilt. There were no size requirements, so you could make this quilt as big, or as small as you wanted. All members are eligible to enter this challenge. So, if you’re a fast quilter, you still have a few (very few, but still, a few) days left to complete your entry. Reminder: Quilts being entered into this challenge must be completed including backing, quilting, and binding. Prizes will be awarded to three quilters.

The February meeting will be on Tuesday, February 20th, starting at 7 pm at the King City Clubhouse, 15245 SW 116th Ave, King City, OR.

Helene Knott to speak at November meeting

Helene KnottHelene Knott will be our featured speaker at the November meeting. Helene will give a presentation on journal quilts, which she calls ‘small wonders.’ Her trunk show program will focus on her students’ and her journal quilts, which are small quilts (usually page sized), that quilters use to try out new techniques.

Helene leads journal quilt groups in several local quilt shops where participants meet monthly to explore techniques a bit more on the artistic end of the spectrum than you might usually encounter in a typical quilting class. Fabric stamping, painting, beading and embellishments, creative stitching and fabric manipulation are some of the techniques they explore.

The November meeting will be on Tuesday, October 21st, starting at 7 pm at the King City Clubhouse, 15245 SW 116th Ave, King City, OR.
