Diane Bowden to Speak at July Meeting

TVQG’s speaker for July will be Diane Bowden. She is a sewist and a quilter with more than 30 years of experience. While she loves all things quilting, she is an expert piecer. She also writes patterns and Block of the Month programs exclusive to The Cotton Patch as Spinning Moon Ltd.

TVQG members are invited to make the Louisiana block for our July Block-of-the-Month. Instructions are available in our members-only section. It’s suggested your fabric choices be white tone-on-tone and two coordinating scrappy fabrics for the center. We’ll hold a drawing for the blocks at our July 17th meeting.

Sharon Rice To Speak At June Meeting

June Block-of-the Month

TVQG members are invited to make the Ginger and Fred block for our June Block-of-the-Month. Instructions are available in our members-only section. The finished block size 12.5” x 12.5” It’s suggested that you use a print fabric of your choice for the rectangles and a coordinating solid, or tone on tone fabric for the triangles. We’ll hold a drawing for the blocks at our June 19th meeting.

Victoria Jones to speak at May meeting

Victoria JonesSewing and quilting instructor Victoria Jones will be the featured speaker at the TVQG May meeting. Here is what she has to say about her teaching philosophy… “I love to teach sewing and quilting, basic principles or complex techniques. Whether you’re new to sewing and quilting or you’re been sewing for years, I love helping my students learn new techniques. My philosophy is that there is more than one way to do almost anything and I want to help you find the best method for you!”

Peggy Gelbrich to speak at March meeting

Peggy Gelbrich Peggy Gelbrich will be the featured speaker at the TVQG March meeting. Peggy is a quilt maker and teacher who started quilting in the mid 70s. She loves teaching people how to make quilts, sharing new quilting patterns and ideas, and the challenge of figuring out how to make a complicated looking pattern easier. Traditional quilts are her favorites; she prefers machine piecing, hand quilting, needle-turn appliqué and crazy quilting. To see samples of Peggy’s work please visit her website.

Half square triangle challenge quilts to be on display at February meeting

Half square triangle quiltsOur Half Square Triangle (HST) Challenge is concluding at the February 20th meeting. Members accepting this challenge were asked to create a quilt using any design, pattern or layout they choose just as long as HST’s are the main focus of their quilt. There were no size requirements, so you could make this quilt as big, or as small as you wanted. All members are eligible to enter this challenge. So, if you’re a fast quilter, you still have a few (very few, but still, a few) days left to complete your entry. Reminder: Quilts being entered into this challenge must be completed including backing, quilting, and binding. Prizes will be awarded to three quilters.

The February meeting will be on Tuesday, February 20th, starting at 7 pm at the King City Clubhouse, 15245 SW 116th Ave, King City, OR.
